B&Q - 3 Butterfly Awnings
Recently installed were a number of products for B&Q, at one of their largest outlets in Cribbs Causeway, near Bristol in the South West of England.
With the store recently undergoing refurbishment, they wished to install two Syncra Flex systems and one Syncra Uno system. These awnings feature the 1700 awning, chosen to cover an area of flower and plant displays.
The Syncra refers to the strudy aluminium framework system used to create the 'butterfly awning' system as seen here. The 'Uno' is simply one anwing and not 2 fitted to the framework. The Markilux system is the best available with the largest profile of support legs and framework ensuring the most durable and safest way to have retractable awnings supported when not fitted to a building. All these awnings were electrically operated for complete ease of use and also to retracte in high winds for safety.
B&Q’s concept home improvement store, one of only 4 of this kind worldwide, feels modern and exciting, and these Markilux awnings add a bespoke functionality to the outside spaces.
The reliability and performance of these awnings, alongside their fantastic visual appeal, is why they were chosen for this project.
This installation is a perfect example of the unique applications in which awnings can be used commercially, and here are utilised just as much for their sublime looks as for their practical usage. This practical use demonstrates that awnings are good for more than just advertising a storefront. The project itself was viewed as such a large success that plans were soon made for stores in France, Russia and Poland to have their own systems installed.
