This retractable awning installation at a trendy mediterranean themed bar in Harpenden, near St Albans, Hertfordshire is a fantastic example of how to use these systems to utilise your outdoor space whilst making a statement.
We started this job by replacing two very worn out and very old awnings. We replaced these with the Markilux 990 awnings on this busy bar in Harpenden. The markilux 990 was chosen for a few reasons. As a fully cassette awning, it protects the fabric against the elements when fully retracted, and can be easily branded to match the aesthetics of a business. It contains an inbuild guttering system and exceptional build quality, making it very reliable. it is also ultra slim in profile, one of the smallest cassette on the market so very discreet when not in use.
The fabric valances had the logos, business details and branding added to create a professional look, and the awnings were set at a nice steep pitch which always help to keep rainfall from causing any issues on fabric awnings.
The awning itself not only provides shelter and increases space for the customers to sit, but also the enhanced projection helps to attract new customers and draw attention to the bar.
The awnings are controlled by the push of a handset button and like most commercial installations we incorporate a wind detection safety system to retract the awnings if left out in high winds.
